Sarah Fox has joined the executive team of the UK Gambling Commission as of July 30, 2026. The senior official from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) will oversee policy, research, and National Lottery regulation.
Fox is seconded from the DCMS to lead the Commission’s Policy and Research and Statistics functions. She brings over 23 years of civil service experience, including tenure at the Home Office, Department of Health and Social Care, and the Cabinet Office. For the past four years, she led the Gambling and Lotteries team at the DCMS, managing the gambling white paper and the transition of the fourth National Lottery licence.
Leadership Transition and Strategy
The appointment follows recent changes within the Commission’s senior management. Acting chief executive Sarah Gardner stated that Fox’s existing work across the sector would support the organization's current strategy. Fox noted that her recent tenure provided a direct view of the Commission’s operations and the progress made within the gambling industry.
